This immersive, interactive installation is the culmination of artists Olivia Prior and Helena Westra’s June Occupancy at the Backfence space. Throughout the month, they crafted over 100 birds and fired them in Westra’s tiny kiln. Only 76 birds survived to be hung in the room, flying around a collection of homey furniture and family heirlooms.

Guests are invited to engage with the installation with a reflective writing activity where they respond to a prompt and place their responses in the swallow's nests.
